A. Lorenzini :
Running late for my 9-5'er one wet July morning, I ran the ramp at my local train station to make the ten past eight and squeezed through the train doors just in time to plonk myself onto a seat. My next step was to rummage through my bag to make sure I had left the house with my keys. This sparked a frantic search and in the mean-time I noticed my bag was wearing a 'tad' thin. It was beautifully stitched and had pastel shades of pink, blue and yellow stripes against a milk chocolate-brown background.
I adored this bag and was clutching onto the hope that the ten safety pins at the zipper would continue the strength to its bag-life. One safety pin gave way and then, I concluded it is time to move onto a new purchase. I took a look around the carriage to notice the other girls' bags around me. None of them appealed but looked dull and very corporate indeed. Only the night before, my thoughts were of how to get my work out into the public eye - without getting too mixed up in the art-world. This is why I established Bagsby to provide sturdy, environmentally friendly and eye-catching bags that would platform my artwork.
On this site you will see a blend of photography, abstract paintings, etchings and collage works inspired by travel, nature, colour, lyrics, human form, contrast and forms of a unique disposition.
Along with my works, Bagsby acts as a platform for other artists to share their work and inspiration. In addition to getting artwork into the public eye, it's also in support of environmental issues to reduce the use of plastic bags.
In my application of screen printing, my aim is to create designs which represent a piece of artwork and not a mass-produced design. You may notice some differences between each bag but this adds to their authenticity! I aim to release only a minimum quantity of each design, so they are unique and have an authentic touch.
